learning tool 4: Google Drive

  • Description of Google Drive.
Google Drive is a free cloud-based storage service that enables users to store and access files online. the service syncs stored documents, photos and more across all of the user's devices, including mobile devices, tablets and PCs. Google Drive integrates with the company's other services and systems including Google Docs, Gmail, Android, Chrome, Youtube, Google Analytics and Google+. Google Drive competes with Mocrosoft OneDrive, Apple iCloud, Box, Dropbox and SugarSync.

As one might expect, Google Drive additionally provides advanced search capabilities for finding specific information within files and users can also share and collaborate with others on documents via the service's built-in access to the Google Docs suite of editing tools.

  • Features of Google Drive
With a Google account, users get 15GB of storage for free. Storage gets used by Google Drive, Gmail and Google Photos so users can store files, save their email attachments and back up photos and videos. For more that 15GB, users can upgrade to Google One.

1. Save Gmail attachments.

Hover over an attachment in Gmail and look for the Drive logo. Users can save any attachment to their Drive to organize and share them in a single and safe place.

2.  Powerful search

Drive can recognize objects in users' images and text in scanned documents. Users can search a word like "Eiffel Tower" and get text documents with that word as well as images of the actual tower.

3. Google photos

Google Photos is my favourite feature. Users can store photos in Drive and see them come to life with Google Photos. Get that expertly edited look without the effort, plus animations, movies and more.
  • Benefit of Google Drive in teaching.
1. Accessibility.

Google Drive can be accessed from any computer via Google Chrome or from any mobile devices regardless of platform. Users can access Drive anytime, anywhere. Teachers no longer have to worry about crashed computers.

2. Paperless.

Teachers won't have excessive amounts of paper to shuffle since Classroom is completely paperless. When teachers upload assignments and assessments to Classroom, they are simultaneously saved to Drive. Teachers can facilitate online discussions between students and create group projects within the Classroom.

3. It saves automatically.

Google saves your works as long as you are working in Google Drive, you don't have to worry about forgetting to save your work and losing everything when your computer freezes up or the power goes out.
  • Benefit of Google Drive in learning.
1. Perfect for collaboration.

Every tool in Drive has built-in collaboration tools that allow multiple users to work on the same document, insert comments in the margins or just let others take a peek at what they are working on. Collaborators can be in completely different locations. Students can not only work together with their own classmates, but they could also collaborate with students across the world.

2. It builds college readiness.

Google Drive are becoming much more common in university, so knowing how to use them fluently means students will have one less thing to learn when they enter those worlds. Students can easily transfer their experience working in a cloud-based environment to other platforms.

3. It works on all platforms.

Drive is web-based so students can use it on PC, tablet and mobile devices. This means students can edit or do their assignments and assessments at anytime, anywhere.
  • Guidelines on getting started on Google Drive.
To get started with Google Drive, the end user must create or sign in to a Google account. Then, the user types "drive.google.com" into his or her browser. "My Drive" will automatically appear, which can contain uploaded or synced files and folders, as well as Google Sheets, Slides and Docs. Then, the user can either upload files form their computer or create files in Google Drive.

Alternatively, the end user can download a Google Drive application to one or more devices. A Google Drive folder will appear along with other folders in each device's file system. Files that the user adds to one folder are available through a Google Drive web app or the Google Drive folder on each device.

Google Drive files

When the end user creates a file or folder, the user becomes its owner by default. Then, the owner can control the level of visibility (public or privately shared with specific Google accounts) and transfer ownership to another user using Gmail addresses. The owner can regulate permissions for both folders and files, using access levels such as "can edit," "can comment" and "can view".

learning tool 1 : Prezi

The description of Prezi. Prezi is a web-based tool for creating presentations which is similar to other presentation software that students always use. For example, Microsoft PowerPoint. The difference between Prezi and other presentation software is that Prezi offers some unique features that make it a good alternative for students or even businesses to do presentation as it has become very popular in recent years. Prezi is suitable for those who want to create a presentation that is a bit more eye-catching and engaging to the audiences.  Most types of presentation software use a slide-based approach, where we can move back and forth between the slides, like pages in a book. This is where Prezi is a bit distinct compared to other presentation software. Prezi uses a canvas-based approach. It has one large canvas that the presentation moves around on, zooming in and out to view various frames. Canvas-based approach is much more easier to describe with a visual aid.
